Are warehouses only for companies that are running large business operations? Of course, they’re not! There are many situations in which you may need to store your personal belongings or some company equipment for a shorter or longer period of time. That’s what warehousing is for too. Are you wondering how it works in real life? Here’s all you have to know before you store your possessions.
When can warehousing come in handy?
Contrary to the common belief, warehouses aren’t used exclusively by companies. Obviously, they rent the most storage space and use it extensively. Nevertheless, in some cases, everyone needs to store something for some time. The good news is some of the warehouses specialise in services for such customers.
When may you need them? For example, think about the removal process. Sometimes it takes a few weeks or more to be able to shift all your belongings to the new place. That’s when warehousing can help. But that’s just the beginning. You may need to store your possessions also when:
- you’re about to renovate your flat or house – emptying the space makes it easier to get the work done and prevents your belongings from being damaged in the process,
- you’re planning to move abroad for some time – in that case, you may need to store all your belongings since it’s not very reasonable to take them with you,
- you simply don’t have enough storage space for your tyres, lawnmower or other large objects that you don’t want to get rid of.
In those cases, storing them in a specialised warehouse is the best solution you can go for!
What can you store in a warehouse?
Generally, good quality warehouses, like the ones we own, are ready to store almost anything. Nevertheless, bear in mind that before you choose a service, you have to make sure that the storage of your choice meets the requirements of your belongings. For instance, if you want to store a large pile of books or boxes full of documents, you may want to check if the humidity level in the warehouse is low enough not to damage them. The same goes for electronics, wooden furniture or other water-sensitive objects. The other factors you may inquire about are:
- the temperature inside the warehouse – it should be controlled,
- the safety of stored goods – are they put into a sealed container or just left unattended in a particular section of the warehouse. It’s also important from the privacy point of view.
All in all, warehouses like ours are able to store any goods you need to put away temporarily. The warehouses are able to store:
- furniture – warehousing price is low enough for it to be affordable,
- car tyres,
- office documents,
- sports equipment,
- home appliances and electronic devices,
- garden appliances,
and many more goods. If you’re not sure, whether the warehouse provides the right conditions for your belongings, feel free to ask. As they say, better safe than sorry.
Warehousing step by step – how does it work?
Do you already know that you need to store your belongings in a warehouse? If it’s the first time you’re about to use such services, you may be wondering how it works. It’s easier than you think. Here’s what to do step by step.
Choose the company that provides warehousing services
You should pick a company that focuses on warehousing for private customers, not for haulage firms or e-commerce. Make sure that:
- the location of the storage is convenient for you – it shouldn’t be too far away from your place,
- they take security issues very seriously – in a god warehousing company, you can expect that your belongings are going to be stored either in a separate storage unit, or, for instance in a big, wooden box that will be sealed and unavailable for anyone but you,
- the prices are right – sometimes it’s wiser to pay a bit more for the higher service quality but before you do, compare the rates, not to overpay,
- they provide the storage service for the time you need it – sometimes it may be hard to tell how long you will need the storage for. Make sure you won’t end up having to move your belongings before it’s convenient to you,
- the warehouse is available on-demand – so that you can get access to your goods anytime you need it.
Contact the company and set the terms of the service
Ask the account manager anything you need to know before signing the contract. Find out how much you’re going to pay, are there any extra fees etc. If the conditions meet your expectations, sign the contract.
Bring your possessions to the warehouse
You can do it by yourself or, sometimes, ask the company for help in that matter too. For instance, Master Moving provides you with removal services as well. So, if you need to empty your flat/house/office and store the goods with us, we’ll be able to help you from the beginning. If that solution seems to be more convenient for you, go for it.
The warehouse will store them
The storage conditions may differ, depending on the type of goods you need to store and their size. In most cases, your belongings will be carefully secured, packed and stored – so that they’re in pristine condition when you’re ready to take them back. Remember: entrusting your possessions with a good warehousing company is a risk-free solution. Even if some accident happens (and that’s very unlikely), the company has insurance, so it’ll reimburse you for any loss.
As you can see, warehousing is a service for everyone that needs to store their goods for a few days, weeks or even years. If you’re one of them, contact us and get some peace of mind!
